Qatar Charity, an international NGO working in Ghana, has met with stakeholders in the Health, Water and Sanitation (WASH) and Education sectors in the country.
The meeting in Accra was held to welcome the incoming Country Director Mr. Hassan Owda and the Director of Global Field Offices Mr. Mana Al-Ansari to Ghana and to share ideas on how to improve support for education, health, water and sanitation, food production and livelihoods development.
The Outgoing Country Director Ahmed Mohammed Adam called on stakeholders to continue to cooperate with the Qatar Charity to benefit from their data to improve targeting of projects for the poor to achieve greatest impact and sustainability.
The incoming Country Director, Mr. Hassan Owda emphasized his determination to continue to work closely with stakeholders to bring more support to the poor communities and people across Ghana.
Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Adokor of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency applauded the Qatar Charity for the number of WASH projects delivered under a decade and pledged readiness of CWSA to support with operations and management of water systems provided by the Qatar Charity.
The meeting which was held at the Qatar Charity Ghana office attracted some Members of Parliament.
The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhiyini confirmed that his Constituency had benefited from projects of Qatar Charity including the construction of school blocks, clinics, and welfare packages for some of his constituents.
The Deputy Minister for Health, Mahama Asei Seini, who is also the Member of Parliament for Daboya Mankarigu Constituency said his Ministry is committed to create the enabling environment for Qatar Charity to support Ghana’s health sector.
The National Coordinator of Zongo and Inner-Cities Development Secretariat under the Office of the President, Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda appealed to the Qatar Charity to consider “Zongos” as a priority area in urgent need of support.
Mr. Justin Adonadaga, Country Coordinator at Qatar Charity announced advanced plans by the NGO to implement “Sports for Peace” project in Zongo Areas across Ghana during the World Cup to be played in Qatar.
Mr. Mana Al-Ansari, the Director of Global Field Offices assured stakeholders of Qatar Charity’s increased funding support for Ghana in the years ahead.
