An Accra Circuit Court has again refused bail for the four Police Officers arrested in connection with the attempted attack on a Bullion Van last February 22 at North Kaneshie in Accra. The Defence team pleaded for bail for the accused persons Yaro Ibrahim, Albert Ofosu, Richard Boadu and Rabui Jambedu who are all General Constables. The Defence argued that the accused persons are serving Police officers and will avail themselves for the trial.
They accused the prosecution of unreasonably delaying the trial and also denying their clients access to bail. The Lawyers described the refusal of bail as an ambush by the prosecution to prevent the accused persons from preparing their Defence. The Prosecutor, DSP Sylvester Asare opposed to the bail application. The Court ordered the Prosecution to file all disclosures before the next adjourned date which is May 17, 2022.
The four Police Officers have been charged with an attempt to commit crime and abetment of crime. They were arrested following investigations into the foiled attack on a Bullion Van last February at North Kaneshie. They are alleged to be linked to the series of Bullion Van robberies in Accra in recent times. These include the gruesome attack which led to the death of Constable Emmanuel Osei at Jamestown Adedemkpo in Accra.
