Assembly Member of Nmlitsakpo Electoral Area in Kpone-Katamanso Municipality, Mr. Isaac Newtown Tetteh has called on residents to have an interest in planning and evaluation of the developmental projects.
He noted that, active community participation in project planning and implementation may improve project design through the use of local knowledge; increase project acceptability; produce a more equitable distribution of benefits; promote local resource mobilization; and help ensure project sustainability.
Mr. Tetteh stated during a community durbar at Badiako in the Nimlitsakpo Electoral Area in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality which was used to educate the residents on development projects and the need for communities to serve as first line of project monitors.
The event was attended by the Member of Parliament for Kpone-Kantamanso, Presiding Member for Kpone-Kantamanso, Chief Inspector Peter Anson at Golf City Police Station who represented the District Police Command, Representative of Meridian Waste Service and associations within the Bediako community.
Mr. Tetteh noted that Community involvement in programme planning requires additional time and activities, but in the long run, failure to address community priorities may jeopardize the success of the project since programmes need to be valued by the affected community to ensure they are meaningful and sustainable.
The Assemblyman solicited for support to furnish the CHPS compound saying that the essence of the CHPS was to provide health needs for the residents; “we must all work together to make the CHPS Compound a place to seek for solution for our health problems”.
Mr. Tetteh was however discouraged that the CHPS Compound facility was reduced to serve as funeral grounds and a place of relaxation for some of the youth in the community, “this is an abnormality which must be corrected immediately by all stakeholders, and we are destroying the facility”.
The Assemblyman in collaboration with the residents have therefore launched funds raising initiative towards refurbishing the CHPS Compound and restores it to its original purpose.
The Member of Parliament for Kpone-Kantamanso, Mr. Joshua Tetteh commended the self-help spirit of the residents and pledged to support with GHC10, 000.00.
Presiding Member of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality, Mr. Joseph Kwese Gbeze complimented the Assembly Member for his numerous contribution to the development of the Kpone Community.
Chief Inspector Peter Ansong, touched on the need for everyone to be security conscious in their daily activities.
He said community members should be vigilant and question suspicious people lurking in their communities as such activities prevented robbers plotting their agenda.
He urged the public to partner police in crime combat by offering information on criminal activities in their community.
Madam Dorcas Arthur, Operations Officer at Meridian Waste Service, a subsidiary of Zoomlion Waste Management who spoke on waste management encouraged the residents to keep their environment neat and healthy.
