The Central Regional House of Chiefs has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to revive dormant factories in the region.

It said there are several factories in the region which are in a deplorable state and need the urgent attention of government.

Prominent among them are the Pozzolana cement Manufacturing Company located at Gomoa Mprumem, the Komenda sugar factory and the Lime factory at Asebu.

President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah, made the appeal when he led a delegation of Chiefs to pay a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.

The ten-member delegation of Chiefs from the Central region was to give their backing to some flagship programmes implemented by government.

The President of the House of Chiefs, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah,  cited the implementation of the free SHS, restoration of nurses and teacher trainees allowances, one district one factory policies among others.

He was hopeful they will go a long way to reduce poverty in the region.

He said the region has a lot of mineral deposits which when tapped into will create wealth and job opportunities for the youth.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah appealed to the President to address the poor road infrastructure in the region.

President Akufo-Addo assured the delegation that his administration will give their requests the necessary attention.

The Chief Executive of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Yoofi Grant assured the Chiefs that the Komenda Sugar factory will soon be handed over to a strategic investor.
