SA High Commissioner-Designate to Ghana presents Open Letter to Foreign Affairs Minister

South Africa’s High Commissioner-Designate to Ghana, H.E Ms. Grace Jeanet Mason has presented her Open Letter to Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey (MP), on Thursday (November 19, 2020).

Madam Ayorkor Botchway congratulated the High Commissioner-Designate on her appointment as a worthy representative of her country.

The two talked about the improvement of bilateral relations between both countries over the last few years.

This included a visit by President Akufo-Addo to South Africa in 2018 where a decision was taken to elevate the bilateral framework and the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) between Ghana and South Africa, to a Bi-National Commission, as well as a visit by South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa to Ghana in 2019.

H.E Ms Grace Jeanet Mason stated that “South Africa will continue to work to strengthen its relations with Ghana relations”.

Madam Ayorkor Botchway said “the relations between Ghana and South Africa are strong and this is due to the hard work of both countries”.

H.E. Ms Grace Jeanet Mason, served as the Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa from September 2017 until her appointment as High Commissioner-Designate of South Africa to Ghana.

Other positions she has occupied include the Head of Protocol and Ceremonial at the Presidency, South Africa, from September 2015 to August 2017 and Director State Visits at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, from September 2009 to August 2015.
