The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has authorized the dismissal of nearly 100 staff of the Ghana Post Limited, citing an irregular recruitment process.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, March 25, 2025, Mr. George confirmed that he had approved the dismissal of almost 100 workers at Ghana Post earlier in the day as part of a staff restructuring exercise.
“Today, I authorized the termination of nearly 100 employees at Ghana Post who were recruited after December 7. This is part of an ongoing rationalisation process, and we will continue,” he stated.
He described the staffing situation he inherited as untenable.
“When you take over a ministry with 3,117 employees across its agencies and realise that nearly 600 were hired after December 7, you can’t simply accept such a situation and move on. It needs to be addressed,” he explained.
According to the Minister, the objective of this review is to streamline the workforce and enhance the efficiency of the ministry and its agencies.
The Ningo-Prampram MP emphasized that he is on a mission to “Clean up the ministry to make sure that it is lean and efficient and carries out its works.”
