The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi has categorically denied allegations that he spent GH¢173,940 on office furniture and a refrigerator.
Gyamfi described the claims as “totally false” and accused members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of spreading misinformation following their electoral defeat.
According to Gyamfi, he has made no changes to his office since assuming the role on January 20, 2025. “All the things in my office, including the chair, desk, and fridge, were there before I assumed office. Not even the A4 sheets or pens on my office desk have been changed,” he clarified.
Gyamfi urged the public to verify claims made by the NPP and its communicators to avoid falling victim to “deliberate disinformation narratives.” He also cautioned Ghanaians to be wary of “fake news” and to double-check information circulated by NPP-affiliated communicators and social media users.
Gyamfi further stated that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against the media outlets and individuals who published the false allegations.
“I have instructed my lawyers to take immediate action against these media outlets and individuals who have published these false claims,” Gyamfi said. “We will not allow deliberate falsehoods to go unchecked.”
The denial comes after some media outlets reported that Gyamfi had spent GH¢173,940 on office furniture, a refrigerator and changing the design of his office at PMMC, sparking outrage on social media.
Gyamfi’s appointment as the Acting Managing Director of PMMC has been met with criticism from some quarters, with some accusing him of lacking the requisite experience for the role.
However, Gyamfi has maintained that he is committed to serving the nation and ensuring that the PMMC operates efficiently and effectively.
