The HIV/AIDS department of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, has raised an awareness campaign to end stigmatization meted on HIV/AIDS patients. Speaking to the media during the inauguration of Ga Dagme Seventh-day Adventist church, the President of the Accra city conference of the SDA, Solomon O.T Hammond pleaded with the general public to desist from castigating HIV/AIDS patients but rather embrace and encourage them to overcome the virus.
The Ga Dagme church was established distinctively to serve the Ga community. Its established was hinged on report that members of the church from native communities are unable to join the main stream church for service hence the need to establish a special church that will be organized in native languages such as Ga, Ga Dagme, and others apart from English and Akan.
Speaking to the media, the President of the Accra City Conference of the church, Solomon O.T Hammond said as the church continues to grow there is a need for effective education about how individuals can deal with the HIV/AIDS virus. He also called for an end to the misinformation and other conspiracy theories about vaccines for the virus. Mr Hammond urged that HIV/AIDS patients should disregard all disinformation about vaccines for the virus and continue to seek medication.
Pastor Solomon O.T Hammond added that as the country heads to the polls on December 7, Ghanaians have been urged to be led by love for one another and commit to the principles of peace to protect the sovereignty of the country.
