Secret of Ghana’s peace is Muslim-Christian tolerance Veep celebrating IFTAR

Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has attributed the peace in the country to religious harmony between Christians and Muslims. He admonished Ghanaians to continue to cherish the harmony which makes Ghana the most peaceful country in West Africa and the second most peaceful in Africa.

Vice President Bawumia was speaking at a brief event to host the National Chief Imam Sheikh, Dr. Nuhu Sharabutu, and some Muslim Clerics for breakfast known as IFTAR at the Jubilee House. He announced that the 2022 Eid prayers will be held at the Independence Square the first in three years following the lifting of sanctions imposed to contain the Coronavirus pandemic.

Bright Ntramah reports the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and Community.

This year’s Ramadan coincided with Easter, the Pass-Over, and the 103rd birthday of the national Chief Imam; making it unique. National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu offered prayers for the President, his Vice, and the entire nation. He called for political and religious tolerance among Ghanaians.

Former Parish Priest at the Christ the King Church, Father Andrew Campbell urged Muslims and Christians to continue to live in peace, harmony, and love for one another.

Vice President, Dr. Bawumia praised the Chief Imam for his exceptional leadership. He said this year’s Ramadan will be exceptional as its marks the full celebration of Eid in the post-Covid era. He urged Christians and Muslims to continue to live in peace and harmony.

Present at the Jubilee House IFTAR include General Supt. of Assemblies of God, Rev. Dr. Paul Frimpong Manso, Rev. Bortey of the Anglican church, Ministers, and members of the Diplomatic Corps among others.
