Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor has tasked the Bono East Regional Security Council to face the cartel involved in illegal lumbering in the region head on.
He said some Ghanaians and foreigners are involved in the illegal act and cautioned that the government is ready to unleash the State security after them.
The Lands and Natural Resources Minister gave the caution after a Regional Security, REGSEC meeting as part of his regional tour to the Bono East Region.
He maintained that the government is committed to protecting the country’s forest cover and that commitment was affirmed at the just ended Climate Change Summit in Glasgow.
Mr. Abu Jinapor said the cartel involved in the illegal lumbering are fully armed and sometimes unleash torture on Officials of the Forestry Commission.
This is the reason the government is also ready to unleash the State security on them.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Kwasi Adu-Gyan said the REGSEC is going all out to defeat the cartel involved in illegal lumbering.
“We will stop at nothing till those involved are flashed out”.
