In an interview on Uniiq FM’s Breakfast Drive, Security Consultant Richard Kumadoe expressed strong criticism against the politicization of recruitment into security agencies.

He emphasized the importance of eliminating political influence to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of our security personnel.

Kumadoe highlighted that political interference has led to a decline in the privileges and dignity associated with men and women in uniform.

He underscored the need for thorough assessment of candidates based on their training, capabilities, and job performance to ensure effective operations and public safety. He also noted that frequent resignations and casualties within security agencies necessitate effective replacement strategies.

He criticized the current recruitment approach, where thousands of applicants vie for limited positions, often resorting to paying bribes to secure placements.

He stressed the importance of a standardized, merit-based recruitment process similar to those in other countries, where applicants undergo aptitude tests and physicals, ensuring transparency and fairness.

He concluded by urging local implementation of these best practices to improve the recruitment process and eliminate political interference, ensuring that candidates are selected based on their hard work and effort.
