EC Reshuffle: Banor-Bioh succeeds Serebour Quarcoo again

Ejisu by-election

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe

By Nicholas Osei-Wusu, Kumasi.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Benjamin Banor-Bioh, has been transferred to the national headquarters of the Commission after five years of his duty tour in the region.

Mr. Banor-Bioh is to take over from Dr. Serebuor Quarcoo as the new Director of Electoral Services of the Electoral Commission, effective Monday, July 1, 2024.

Incidentally, the outgoing Ashanti Regional Director of the EC took over from the same Dr. Quarcoo in 2019 having been transferred from the Northern Region as the then Regional Director.

During the five years he has been in charge of elections in the Ashanti region, Mr. Banor-Bioh has supervised several public elections in the Ashanti region, major ones including the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary polls, the Kumasi and EJISU Parliamentary By-elections in addition to political party internal polls, without any serious fallout.

Journalists in Ashanti have highly commended Mr. Banor-Bioh for his cordial media relationship and openness in discussing electoral issues with the public.

Mr. Banor-Bioh adds to the growing number of Ashanti Regional Directors of the EC who have been transferred to the national headquarters to take up higher positions.

These include Samuel Yorke, Samuel Tettey, and Serebuor Quarcoo.

Meanwhile, the current North East Regional Director of the EC, Osei Nsiah, who is also a retired FIFA Referee, is to takeover from Mr. Banor-Bioh as the new Ashanti Regional Director in July this year.
