The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has inaugurated a new ICT and STEM learning center in Kaleo, Upper West Region. The newly commissioned Lab 14 – Yamoransa Model is part of a nationwide initiative to enhance digital education, particularly in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The lab aims to provide students with essential digital skills, equipping them to navigate an increasingly technology-driven world. Speaker Bagbin, despite his busy national schedule, attended the inauguration and described the facility as a “game-changing intervention” that would improve education in underserved communities like Kaleo.
Empowering Education Through Technology
The Yamoransa Model project has seen success in other parts of Ghana, improving teaching methods and increasing student interest in STEM, especially among girls. Lab 14 is expected to bring similar benefits to Kaleo, helping students in the region gain vital skills for their future careers.

Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of community involvement for the lab’s long-term sustainability. “This is your project. I simply mobilized the resources to make it happen. Own it and sustain it,” he told the local community.
Acknowledgement of Partners
The Speaker expressed his gratitude to the Helping Africa Foundation for its financial support, TechAide for the technological infrastructure, and all contractors and consultants involved in the project. He also thanked the Nadowli Kaleo District Assembly, the Education Directorate, and the Traditional Council for their support in bringing the lab to fruition.

Encouraging Students and Teachers
Speaker Bagbin encouraged students and educators to take full advantage of the new facility, urging them to use it to foster curiosity and creativity. He also called on individuals and organizations to support the lab’s sustainability, highlighting the importance of investing in education.
With the launch of Lab 14, Kaleo is set to become a key center for digital learning, providing students with the tools they need to succeed in a technology-driven world.
