MP for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, says the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s official SIM card, has been deactivated despite undergoing the SIM registration exercise.

He said his own SIM card has also been disconnected.

Over 8 million unregistered SIM cards were deactivated by the various telcos after the May 31 deadline announced by the government for the registration exercise.

Although the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has been scheduled to appear before Parliament on Thursday, the Ningo Prampram MP stressed the need for the Minister to appear on time to address concerns raised regarding the process.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, will brief Parliament on Thursday on the just-ended SIM re-registration exercise.

Presenting the Business Statement for the week, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said due to the heightened agitation by affected subscribers, it has become expedient for the Minister to bring the house up to speed on the whole exercise.
