The 2019 Mid- Year budget review presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Attah has sparked varied opinions among stakeholders in the financial sector. While some were unhappy with the presentation, others say they are impressed with the figures put out by the Finance Minister.
An Economist and Financial Analyst Yaw Ohemeng Kyei told Nathaniel Nartey that the upward adjustment in some levies is justified because it will enable the government to generate more revenue to undertake development projects.
Head of Finance, University of Cape Coast Business School, Prof. John Gatsi, is of the view that the Finance Minister used the Mid -Year Budget presentation to score political points. He said the implication of Mr Ofori Attah’s request for an additional six billion cedis for the 2019 budget means that Ghana will borrow more.
