The STAR-Ghana Foundation has launched a three-year project in Koforidua, in the New Juaben South Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The project known as Our City Project is to get the youth informed to participate actively in governance and influence improved services across all sectors.
The Head of Programmes at STAR-Ghana Foundation, Eunice Agbenyadzi, said the project will ensure that the youth are not left behind in the development process.
Our City Project seeks to promote partnerships between duty-bearers and citizens to ensure that development programming is more meaningful to the youth. It is also aimed at enhancing access to improved social services, including education and decent work for the youth.
Head of Programmes at the STAR-Ghana Foundation, Eunice Agbenyadzi, said the project will be approached from an inclusion perspective, thereby contributing to reducing inequalities in accessing social services for different categories of young people.
The Osuakunyahene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Baffour Osei Poku Yamoa Ponko, lauded the initiative and urged all stakeholders to engage the youth in decision-making.
He said the future of Ghana lies in the hands of the youth, as they need programmes to improve their lives.
The New Juaben South Municipal Coordinating Director, Edward Abazing, said the Assembly will support the STAR-Ghana Foundation for the success of the project.
