At the 2024 Girl-Powered STEM Workshop organized by Bountiful Technologies, girls were empowered through hands-on robotics development, designing earthquake-resistant structures in an intense competition.

This annual event, themed “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child by inspiring over 300 participants from Ghana and neighboring countries to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Dr. Anita Asamoah, a senior researcher at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, delivered a motivational keynote address, encouraging girls to persevere in their STEM pursuits and not abandon their dreams, even after marriage. She dispelled the myth that women in academia struggle to marry, reinforcing the message that both academic success and personal fulfillment are achievable for women.

With support from partners including the REC Foundation, TVET, VEX Robotics, Ericsson Telecommunication Ghana, ECG Women in Engineering, and Women in ICT, the workshop offered mentorship sessions, hands-on workshops in AI and IoT, and STEM challenges, building skills and confidence in the young participants. This 5th edition marks another step forward in breaking gender barriers and fostering the next generation of women leaders in STEM.
