Government is yet to finalise its decision on proposals by the Transport Unions, to scrap some levies on petroleum products. The outcome will inform the Unions on the way forward with any increase in transport fares. The Ghana Private Road Transport Union, GPRTU, earlier said it had agreed to hold on with the planned increase in transport fares till November 1, 2021 when the government made public its decision.
Head of Communications at the GPRTU, Abass Imoro noted that ‘’On November 1 it did not happen because he heard Parliament was not sitting by then so we have to adjust ourselves because we wanted the government to come out with its promise then we also come out with our final decision so we have to wait for 2 or 3 days more’’, he stated.
