The Tamale-Walewale-Bolgatanga highway has been opened after hours of blockade in protests over the attempted arrest of the overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga who was enskinned last week.

The youth yesterday, February 20, 2023, took to the street burning tyres and blocking the main highway linking Walewale to the Upper East and Southern Ghana.

As at 6pm yesterday, vehicles were allowed to move, but tension remained high.

Giving an update on the situation, our Northern Regional Correspondent Mutarla Issah, reports that the blockade brought business activities to a standstill as a long line of vehicles formed on the Southern and Northern ends of Walewale.
