The office of the Commander for the Tema Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Owusu-Bempah was on Thursday broken into by thieves.
Items stolen include a 42 Nasco curve color television set at the main office, a 32-inch color television from the dining and rest room, one HP laptop, one Gotv decoder and GHc13.00 cash.
Briefing the media on Friday, ACP Owusu-Bempah said he received a phone call from his second in command DSP Bruce Paul Amoah at about 7am that personnel who had reported on morning duty had informed him about a burglary in his (Commander’s) office.
“According to my second in command it was a lady who plies her trade behind my office who alerted the police after spotting the gaping window,” he revealed.
ACP Owusu-Bempah said he rushed to the office, opened it and upon close examination realized that the items had been stolen and immediately asked for investigation to commence by the Tema Community One Police Command.
“It was noted that the robbers gained access to the office by destroying a burglar proof in the window,” and explained that the window overlooks a footpath with no wall.
The situation according to some concerned persons should be blamed on the fact that the building itself serves as a wall so it is not secured enough but due to lack of space the Police has to manage it.
