Tensions in Walewale in the North East Region are reported to have become uncontrollable following the blocking of the Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway by irate youth who are protesting the attempted arrest of the Overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Mahami Abdulai Sheriga and Alhaji Seidu Abagre, who was enskinned as the Bawku Naaba by the Nayiri last week.
The enskinment raised tensions in Bawku with government issuing a statement to condemn the act.
According to GBC’s Correspondent, Murtala Issah, vehicles are restrained from moving about in the region and the police are unable to control the situation.
He added that the current situation requires urgent military intervention.
