Theresa Naomi Foundation has slated September 9 as a day of remembrance for two sisters who are named after the organisation. The day is dubbed as Theresa Naomi Foundation Day and is observed every year.

This year, the foundation observed this memorial Day with a donation at Chosen Children Centre. The foundation donated educational materials to the children.

In an interview, the founder and president of the foundation who led the team for the donation, Nuredeen Wahab Lartey, said this foundation, which was launched in April 2022, is aimed at continuing the charity work that their mother, Theresa, was doing in the Labadi community before she passed last year.

He said the foundation’s main focus is education, which would help the needy children with educational materials, funds for their education, and other financial aids as the organisation deems fit.

He added that the foundation holds two activities a year in April and September. He said the financial aid is given in April, while they visit a children’s home in September.

He added that they do not only make donations during the visit but also spend time, play games, and engage the children during the visit.

The organising secretary for the foundation, Jennifer Addo, added that they are thrilled to see the children put on a smile because of their donation. She said it is a fulfilling moment and an experience they want to go through every time.

Receiving the items on behalf of the children, the Manager of the Chosen Children Centre, Felicity Ali, expressed her gratitude to the Theresa Naomi Foundation.

She lamented that running a children’s home comes with a lot of challenges, especially financial ones. She said the centre is financially constrained in carrying out many of its mandates, like education, healthcare, and others.

She appealed to other philanthropic organisations to come to their aid for the smooth running of the centre.
