The Kingdom of God Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has donated GH¢20,000 to support the Volta Regional Minister’s Water for All Initiative and provided relief items to victims of the recent tidal waves in some parts of the Volta region.
Alongside the financial support, the Foundation also presented 50 bags of 5kg rice and 30 mattresses to victims recently displaced by tidal waves along the coast.
Speaking during the presentation, the Director for the Kingdom of God Foundation, Mr. John Paul Semavor, emphasized the need for individuals to complement the government’s efforts. “If government is working on a sea defence project, we in our own little mite can support with other things, you know, building materials, the bed, the food that I just provided,” he said. “These things will at least keep them going, you know, or keep them at least moving whilst government works on their quote-unquote big-ticket items, especially the sea defence, which I know they are actively working on. The government will not forget the people of the Volta region. Government will not let our people, you know, suffer in this predicament.”

Receiving the items, Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Semavor for his timely intervention. “We are most grateful to our brother John Paul for his particular support. I believe it will go a long way to reduce the suffering of our people,” he said. “As a government, we are determined to ensure that we find a permanent solution to this particular development. The government has captured this particular project, the sea defence project, which we believe will give a permanent solution to the perennial tidal wave situation.”
Hon. Gunu further elaborated on his Water for All Initiative, stating, “The Water for All project that we have started is to ensure that our people have access to clean water. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, we realised that there’s a huge gap that needs to be filled. So we have started drilling boreholes, mechanising boreholes, and there’s a lot of demand coming from communities, institutions, and we are determined to help them solve their water challenges. We cannot do it alone. We need individuals and other corporate organisations to come in and support us.”
The Kingdom of God Foundation’s contribution comes at a critical time as government efforts continue toward building a resilient coastal defence and ensuring access to safe water across the region.
