Today is Africa Union Day observed annually on May 25 to commemorate the founding of the Organization of African Unity, OAU, the precursor of the African Union.
The OAU was created to help bring about change, freedom and independence to many African countries.
It provides an opportunity to recite the political and socio-economic achievements of African governments and African citizens.
The celebration however comes at the backdrop of a number of issues; the Covid-19 pandemic having piled up pressure on the African economy.
