The Awoamefia of Anlo, Torgbui Sri III, has officially commenced the mediation process to amicable resolve chieftaincy conflict that has engulfed Bimbila in the Northern Region.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Torgbui Sri III as the sole mediator in the protracted chieftaincy crisis in Bimbila as part of government efforts to eliminate the phenomenon of conflict zones in the country.
At a ceremony in Anloga to formally commission the Awoamefia as well as to hand over his appointment letter on behalf of the President, the National Security Minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah expressed hope that, Torgbui Sri can settle the crisis in the area with his expertise in security issues.
The Awoamefia of Anlo, Torgbui Sri’s commissioning as the sole mediator of the Bimbila Chieftaincy conflict was attended by a high powered government delegation which was led by National Security Minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah.
The rest include the Minister for Chieftaincy Affairs, Kofi Dzamesi, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa and Northern Region Minister, Salifu Saeed all of who pledged their support in the mediation process.
Mr. Kan-Dapaah bemoaned that the Bimbila chieftaincy conflict has adversely affected socio-economic of the people of Bimbila and as such a threat to national security.
He noted that an effective governance system depends on the collaboration between political leaders and traditional authorities hence government’s resolve to engage Togbui Sri.
Torgbui Sri appealed for support from all stakeholders for a successful reconciliation process, and urged especially, the factions in the Bimbila conflict to bury their differences to give way for accelerated growth in the area. Torgbui Sri is a retired Police Commissioner who once served as the Commander for the Northern and Volta Regions.
