Traders at the Kejetia Market in Kumasi are demanding that the appointment of the Managing Director of the Kumasi City Market Limited, Kofi Duffour be terminated within two weeks.

The traders who gave the ultimatum at a News Conference in Kumasi urged President Akufo Addo to heed to their demand.

The traders accused Mr. Duffour of mismanaging the market and poorly maintaining the edifice.

They fear the market may collapse if nothing is done about it.

The Combined Kumasi Kejetia Traders Association alleged that Mr Kofi Duffour is not up to the task adding that ”his continued stay in office will be detrimental to the peace needed between traders and management”.

The General Secretary for the Combined Kumasi Kejetia Traders Association, Reuben Amey, said the Manager has allegedly allocated spaces in the market to hawkers, making it congested contrary to the initial plan of the market.

He also alleged that the Managing Director has neglected victims of a fire outbreak in the market, despite a three hundred thousand Ghana cedi donation by the Vice President which was to be distributed to the victims.

The traders have, therefore, called on President Akufo Addo to remove the Managing Director from office, else they will advise themselves.

Meanwhile, victims of the fire outbreak have called on the government to reconstruct the market.
