The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for illegally possessing and discharging firearms during a funeral ceremony.
According to a press release signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Michael Nkekesi, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, the suspects, Frank Afoko (41) and Kojo Agyapong (31), were apprehended on April 2, 2025, at around 2:00 PM.
The arrest followed an investigation into a viral video showing multiple individuals openly firing weapons at a funeral in Attakrom, near Bibiani, on March 14, 2025.

The operation was conducted by the Western North Police Intelligence Department with support from the Formed Police Unit.
During interrogation by the Regional Investigation Team, the two suspects admitted to being the individuals seen in the footage. They are currently in police custody as investigations continue to track down other suspects who remain at large.

The police command reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining security in the region and urged anyone with information regarding the remaining suspects to come forward.
Ghana police is currently undergoing an agenda to curb the unlawful use of firearms in public gatherings, particularly at funerals, where such activities have become a growing concern.
