A food vendor and a Prison officer in the Tamale metropolis are the latest to test positive for covid-19, bringing the regional count to thirty four.
According to the northern regional health directorate, the two were among forty random samples tested in the metropolis in the last few days, raising concerns that, community infections were spreading steadily.
The Northern Regional Director of Health, Dr. John Eleeza in an interview with GBC News explained that, the health directorate decided to go beyond contact tracing and to test vulnerable groups in the metropolis.
He said food vendors were among those tested leading to a positive case.
Dr. Eleeza said the Tamale Prisons Service also made a request for their officers to be tested, leading to one positive case.
He said the prison officer, a recruit is currently out of town, but a message has been sent for her to be quarantined.
