Certified Ghanaian Economist, Businessman and 2024 Independent Presidential Hopeful, Dr. Sam Ankrah, has been honoured by the University of Ghana Economic Students’ Society (UGESS) as Leadership Personality of the Year.
At an awards and dinner night organised by the University’s Economics Department and Alumni, Dr. Ankrah was honoured for his unwavering support and mentorship towards youth and student development.
Dr. Sam Ankrah, a stalwart in the economics field and an advocate for youth empowerment, is known for his inclusivity of Ghanaian youth and graduates embarking on economic freedom and independence. The award as Leadership Personality of the Year comes as no surprise to the entire youth body who have come close to his knowledge sharing and mentorship Programmes.
In his address, Dr. Ankrah reached out to the final-year students of the University’s Economics Department to embrace every change they encounter and face with courage and enthusiasm. He stressed that it is inevitable in our part of the world and even as humans to face and come across challenges, but with courage, the challenges can be turned into stepping stones for successive career paths and journeys.
He further advised them to make better and effective use of the skills and knowledge that have been impacted on them by their lecturers and the academic environment in order to attain a higher level of economic freedom and not depend on the government to provide them with jobs. He added that, while they are ready to step into the job world and corporate space, they should carry the spirit of the university with them and make themselves proud.
He appreciated the student body and the Economics Department of the University of Ghana for honouring him with the Leadership Personality of the Year award and promised his unwavering support and mentorship to the student body.
