Have you been flipping the script, do you turn fear into hope, war into peace, division into Unity? These and many more initiatives are what the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs awards seek to honour. Imagination, Experts say carries great power.
The Awards which started in 2018 seeks to honour individuals who have a vision for positive change and have translated this vision in their communities, region or country.
“Initiatives that are promoting gender equality that are advancing peace and security. Initiatives that are fighting against the impact of climate change that are promoting food sovereignty. We look for initiatives that are trying to unite people that are creating connection between generation. And finally we’re looking at initiative that use tremendous power of creativity to inspire change” Director of the UN SDG Action campaign Marina Ponti said.
“It is estimated that by 2030, 40% of the globa youth will be in Africa. So we’re particularly confident that in Africa, the new leader, the new change maker can really come up with ideas with solution with campaigns and initiatives that are going to make a difference today and for the future” she added
This year’s awards are in four categories: The Mobilize, Connect, Inspire and Change Maker’s categories.
The UN Awards which is a signature programme of the UN Action campaign believes that by tapping into our creativity and diversity, we can work together to create a great future. This is why initiatives and individuals who are making a difference are targeted.
