Players in the health sector and its development partners in the Upper East Region have been charged to join hands on deck in ensuring that healthcare delivery is brought to the door steps of the people in the region.
This came to light at a stakeholders forum organized by the Upper East Regional Health Directorate in collaboration with the Swiss Red Cross, SRC, aimed at familiarizing with themselves with activities of partners in the region.
The forum brought together Municipal and District Health Directors, and officials from the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, the Ghana and Swiss Red Cross Societies, the Participatory Action for Rural Alternatives (PARDA), the Christian Health Association of Ghana, CHAG, the Ghana Medical Health, GMH.
The rest are the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, Life Out of Alcohol and Drugs, LOAD-Ghana, BasicNeeds- Ghana, the Catholic Relief Services, CRS, the Rural Initiative for Self-Empowerment RISE-Ghana and the Anglican Diocesan Development Relief Organization, ADDRO, among others
Addressing participants, the Upper East Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Winfred Ofosu, said in order for health partners to make impact in the region, it was critical for them to work in synergy and pull their resources together.
He said the purpose of the meeting was to afford players in the health sector to know what their partners or colleagues are doing to enable them execute their duties as expected.
Dr. Ofosu pledged his outfit’s readiness to support any initiative geared towards bringing quality healthcare delivery to the door steps of the people in the region.
The Country Coordinator of SRC, Thomas Oyugi Okollah, said the forum was part of efforts to support government to ensure that there was coordinated implementation of activities within the Upper East region.
He said the SRC will continue to support the Upper East Regional Health Directorate to achieve the sustainable development goals on health Participants at the forum were charged to work together in collaborative manner to achieve their objectives.
The forum was on the theme: “Together with our partners we pull our strength and resources together for improved Maternal Newborn and Child Health.”
