Residents of Wa in the Upper West Region have been alarmed by the incessant disappearance of private security guards in the area. This morning, residents woke up to the news of another missing private security guard, bringing the number to 7 in the last five months.

The recent suspected murder happened near the Wa Technical Institute and is the second to have occurred this week. Traces of blood were found on the floor near the duty post of the victim.

Residents suspect both missing persons have been killed and their bodies hidden. Meanwhile, the youth went on a rampage and protested the sudden missing of persons in the area. They stormed Wa Naa’s palace demanding to be given permission to search houses of foreigners.

According to reports, the overlord of Wa has summoned all sub-chiefs under his jurisdiction to look into the matter and possibly get the Regional Security Council to impose curfew. Today’s incident happened less than 48 hours after the Upper West Regional Security Council said it has put its issues on high alert following the growing number of murders and disappearances of people in the region.

The Council is calling on all inhabitants within the Wa Municipality and the region at large to volunteer information on people within their areas with suspicious characteristics to the security agencies. The Council has also put in place a number of measures including arrest and prosecution of all unregistered motors.

The Ghana Immigration Service and the Wa Municipal Assembly are also taking inventory of all hotels and guest houses within the Municipality.
