”Panuka Farms in Zambia is a model for what we can do to counter the threat of climate change”, says US Vice President Kamala Harris on her visit to Lusaka, Zambia.
Locally owned and operated the Farm is using climate-smart agriculture techniques and digital tools to reduce water usage, keep produce healthier, and ensure food security.
On her arrival in Accra, Ghana, on a 9-Day Visit to Africa, US Vice President Kamala Harris announced a number of issues to top the agenda on her visit . One of them is to seek to address Climate Change issues.
In addressing the Climate Change issues across Africa she tweeted that ”climate crisis is a global challenge”.
”I am proud to have secured $7 billion in private sector commitments that will support climate resilience, adaptation, and mitigation across the continent of Africa”.
According to a UN Report, Climate Change remains a threat to Africa.
”This report shows increasing climate change threats for human health, food and water security and socio-economic development in Africa. Because of this, we need accurate and current data for adaptation planning,” said Ovais Sarmad, Deputy Executive Secretary, UN Climate Change.
