Forty health workers in the Volta Region have been infected with COVID-19. This is out of the 274 confirmed cases in the region.

This was announced by the Volta Regional Deputy- Director of Public Health, Dr. Kwesi Dzokoto, in an interview with Radio Ghana in Ho.

According to him, despite the fear it has caused among Health Professionals, the Regional Health Directorate has put in place adequate measures to protect and safeguard them without reneging its duties and responsibilities to provide quality healthcare, especially during this pandemic.

The forty confirmed cases cut across all categories within the health sector in the region.

Though the Volta regional health directorate describes the situation as unfortunate, the directorate says it has scaled up its measures especially within the hospital and all healthcare facilities to safeguard staff and patients alike.

The emergency unit of the Ho Teaching Hospital was temporarily closed for disinfection exercise after a patient who was rushed to the facility tested positive to COVID 19 recently.
