Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has returned from Mecca, Saudi Arabia, after joining millions of Muslim faithful across the world including Ghanaians who embarked on the journey to perform this years Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.
The Vice President and his wife Samira arrived in the company of the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, the Minister of Business Development, Awal Mohammed, and the Deputy Minister of Energy, Mohammed Amin Adam among other government officials.
He was met on arrival by the Chief Imam, Shiek Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and the Council of Muslim Chiefs, the Minister Designate for Inner City and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Hamid, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta.
The Chief Imam led the muslim faithful in a short prayer to give thanks to Allah for the safe return of the Vice President and his entourage.
Vice President Bawumia in a short remark expressed gratitude to Allah for a peaceful Hajj. He was hopeful that the Almighty Allah will accept the prayers of pilgrims who embarked on the journey and continue to shower His blessings on Ghana especially the President to achieve his vision for the country.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia also expressed gratitude to the Saudi Prince for hosting them throughout the period. He prayed for the safe return of Ghanaians back to the country.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and fulfills one of the conditions for total submission to the will of Allah.
