Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to inaugurate the country’s first-ever Infectious Disease facility in Accra this afternoon.
President Akufo Addo cut the sod for the more than five-million-dollar project, located at the Ga East Municipal Hospital in April this year.
The Centre is expected to Treat and take Care and patients who contract infectious diseases.
The Facility was financed with proceeds from the National COVID-19 Private Sector Fund.
The Fund was launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Three more of such facilities are expected to be built in Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale.
The 100-bed capacity treatment center will be used to handle critically ill Covid-19 patients and subsequently for Research into some of the infectious diseases prevalent in Ghana.
