The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called for accelerated action to create a more equitable workplace during the International Women’s Day celebration. Speaking on the theme, “Accelerating Action for a More Equitable Workplace,” she emphasized the need for inclusive environments that empower women and allow them to thrive in governance and public service delivery.

She stated that workplaces should be welcoming spaces where women, often in the minority, can grow from “being buds to full-blown flowers.” This approach is crucial in fostering an environment where everyone can express their potential.

She stressed the importance of equity in recognizing every talent and ensuring that women are given opportunities to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Vice President also highlighted the significance of leadership in using privilege to uplift others, guiding them toward realizing their aspirations and potential.

She emphasized that leaders should use their positions to bring others forward, showing them the path to success. This leadership role is vital in creating a supportive ecosystem that encourages growth and progress.

The Vice President expressed gratitude to key stakeholders who have supported initiatives promoting gender equity, particularly His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

She added that efforts must focus on deprived areas to ensure all girls and boys stay in school and achieve their dreams.

Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang concluded by urging everyone to commit to fairness and opportunity for women while fostering spaces that nurture talent and progress.
