The Wa Area Church of Pentecost (COP) has presented items valued at ¢6,000.00 to the Regional Hospital in Wa. The items which ranged from N95 respirators, hand sanitisers, gloves, chlorine, face shields to surgical masks were to help the Hospital in the fight against COVID-19.
The Wa Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel Nii Tetteh Tackie who handed over the package talked about the contribution the Church is making in the management of COVID-19.
He indicated: “The Church of Pentecost has done a lot of donations across the country, and we have also released our vans which are going round the whole of the Upper West Region to educate the people on the need to protect ourselves.”
“So this is our widow’s mite and it is our prayer that the good Lord will be with you all, especially the frontline workers, this will help to protect but above all, it is our prayer that God himself protect you and gives you divine direction of how to go about things. So on behalf of the Church of Pentecost, that is Wa Area, I present these items to you [the Regional Hospital] in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen,” Apostle Tetteh Tackie observed.
A Deputy Director of Pharmaceutical Services and Head of Pharmacy at the Regional Hospital, Pharm. Daniel K. Ekwam expressing appreciation pointed out that almost every organisation, every faith based organisation and individuals are trying to ensure that they donate in order to help alleviate the pains of clients and frontline workers in their line of work.
“We are most grateful to you [Church of Pentecost] for what you have done for this very hospital, so on behalf of the medical director and the management of the Hospital and the entire staff, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for what we have seen this afternoon.”
Mr Ekwam announced that since the hospital started operating on the January 9, 2020, it has handled more than 300 referrals from other district facilities in Upper West, adding that, over 170 surgeries had also been done as at March 2020. He commended the staff of the Hospital for their dedication to duty.
A Deputy Director of Nursing Services and Head of Nursing at the Regional Hospital in Wa, Ms. Linda Mettle who helped in receiving the donation was also very thankful to Church for reaching out to the Hospital and promised that the items will be used for their intended purpose.
The Wa Area Head of Church of Pentecost, Apostle Tetteh Tackie was given a tour of the Hospital after the donation.
