Police in the Western North Region are on a manhunt for two robbers who sustained bullet wounds after a foiled robbery attack on a cocoa farming community in the Sefwi Wiawso municipality.

Speaking to GBC’S Radio Ghana, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwadwo Boah-Appiah said the robbers attacked passengers who were mainly cocoa farmers and purchasing clerks on the Abrabra-Nwonya road yesterday (November 9) and collected their money and other valuables.

The Police patrol team however intervened leading to the gunning down of two of the robbers while two also sustained bullet wounds with three passengers shot and one in critical condition at the Sefwi Asafo Hospital.

DCOP Boah-Appiah said one AK47 rifle, 50 rounds of ammunition and 3 magazines have been retrieved so far.

The Western North Regional Police Commander advised cocoa farmers and cocoa purchasing clerks to seek security deployment in all their transactions although the police have beefed-up patrols in the area.
