GBC Sunrise FM, has through it’s project dubbed, ” Wishing you well on Christmas Day”, donated some assorted items to patients and staff at the Kade Government Hospital in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Wishing you well on Christmas Day, a project which has been in existence for 11 years now, seeks to bring smiles to the faces of patients who find themselves at the hospital during the Christmas season as well as hospital staff.
Dr Michael Nelson Tornyi, Medical Officer at Kade Government Hospital, thanked GBC Sunrise FM for their support and love, and asked for an ambulance to replace the old one, as well as equipment for the hospital’s new Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU.”One of our major challenges is our ambulance service. The hospital’s ambulance has broken down which makes it difficult to o refer patients to other hospitals.” “We need an ambulance that will aid in transporting referral patients safely”.
The Deputy in charge of Kade NICU, Charity Odurah, spoke about their work at the facility and reiterated the need for benevolent organizations to come to their aid. “The neonatal unit is new and therefore we need more incubators, beds for the babies and phototherapy machines to enhance their service delivery.”
The Leader of the Wishing you well on Christmas Day project, who is also the Head of Production at GBC Sunrise FM, Frank Odei Anim, spoke about the essence of the project adding that it is an annual affair. “The idea behind the project is to visit hospitals on Christmas day to celebrate the day with the unfortunate people who find themselves at the hospital.”
More than 10 boxes of assorted biscuits, about 30 crates of soft drinks, 10 boxes of bottled water, toiletries, and other items worth three thousand Ghana cedis were distributed to patients and hospital staff, while inmates wished their loved ones a Merry Christmas live on radio.
Last year, Wishing you well on Christmas day was celebrated at the New Abirem Government Hospital.
