Work completed on Okuafo Pa Project at Keremasu

Work has been completed on the Okuafo Pa Project at Keremasu in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region.

This has given birth to the Okuafo Pa Agribusiness Center, a collaboration between ENI Ghana, an Oil Firm and Ghana.

The Centre which was built within seven months is to among others to train farmers in modern techniques and agricultural entrepreneurship.

This came to light when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inspected the Facility as part of his ongoing tour of the Bono Region.

Sod was cut for the Okuafo Pa Project in March this year and has been completed ahead of schedule.

Basically it aims at promoting Ghana’s industrialization and sustainable socio economic development through Agricukture.

The Okuafo Pa Agribusiness Centre features a Training School for farmers focusing on Diversified Agric Development and Entrepreneurship.

It will also handle training in marketing, processing and distribution as well as accessing credit for farmers.

It has a capacity of 800 and boasts of experimental Agro laboratories, utilities and storage for farm produce.

It also has classrooms, workshops and accommodation for teachers among other facilities.

Speaking after a briefing by the MD of ENI Ghana, Roberto Danielli President Akuffo Addo said the Facility will help in the modernization of Agriculture in Ghana.

Mr. Danielli for his part stressed that their aim is to positively affect the lives of the people.

The President then moved to Dormaa Ahenkro where he attended a Durbar in his honour.

As usual the Dormaahene put some requests before the President.

Osagyefo Agyemang Badu expressed concern about stalled Cocoa roads and other road projects in the area.

He equally asked Government to do something about stalled projects like the Dormaa Campus of the UENR.

President Akufo-Addo in response assured the Omanhene that Government will not shirk it’s responsibility to develop UENR, especially in the wake of plans to name the University after Ghana’s late Prime Minister Dr. Abrefa Busia.

The President throughout his tour has been calling various sector Ministers to address questions and concerns that fall within their sectors.

Reacting to the concerns about the stalled road projects, the Minister for Roads, Kwasi Amoako Atta, said five kilometers of Dormaa Town Roads are to be asphalted while Cocoa Road Projects, including those in the Dormaa Area are to be revived.

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Afriyie Akoto, for his part said under the Rearing for Food and Jobs, Mobile Slaughter Houses are to be made available to give a boost to Dormaa’s Poultry Industry.
