Young Writers gather for 3-day capacity development at Goethe Institute in Accra

The Young Creative Writers Workshop kicked off 27th September 2024 at the Goethe-Institut in Accra, marking the beginning of a three-day intensive program for aspiring writers.

The workshop, designed for young writers aged 18-30, aims to foster creativity, improve writing skills, and provide a platform for self-expression.

The 3-days workshop which is organized by the Ghana Writers Association, Literary Ghana, and the Goethe-Institut Accra, the workshop brings together renowned authors and industry experts to facilitate sessions on creative writing, storytelling techniques, character development, and publishing.

The workshop started at the Goethe Institute in Accra for the first-day session and later moved to Koforidua for the second and third sessions.

“We are thrilled to provide this opportunity for young writers to hone their craft and connect with like-minded individuals,” said by Ms. M.P Bayor, workshop facilitator and author.

The first day’s sessions focused on introducing participants to creative writing, storytelling techniques, and the importance of observation. Participants engaged in interactive exercises, sharing their work and receiving feedback from peers and facilitators.

“I’m excited to learn from experienced writers and gain confidence in my writing,” said Ama, a participant.

The workshop continues at the Ghana Writers Association Headquarters in Koforidua where participants will delve into plot structure and writing styles.
