About 1525 graduates from the Accra Campus of Ghana’s premier private university, the Wisconsin International University College Ghana over the weekend passed out during the college’s 16th congregation.
The 16th congregation held at the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry Auditorium in Accra was under the theme; “Redefining the Boundaries of Tertiary Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
117 out of the 1525 graduands passed out with an MSc in Environment Sustainability and Management, an MA in International Relations, a Master of Business Administration (Accounting or Finance, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing Management, and Project Management options), and MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
1395 undergraduate graduands also passed out under the following courses; Bachelor of Law. BA in Development and Environmental Studies, Bachelor of Science in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Accounting, BA Business Studies (Accounting), BA Business Studies (Banking and Finance), BA Business Studies (General), BA Business Studies (Human Resource Management), BA Business Studies (Marketing), and, BA in Communications Studies.
The rest are; Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, Bachelor of Science Community Health Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Management and Computer Studies, and, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. While 11 graduands also passed out with a Diploma in Information Technology.
Addressing the gathering, the President of the Wisconsin International University College, Prof. Obeng Mireku, called on the graduands to go out into the world, knowing that they were carrying the badge of the college. Saying “Have at the back of your mind that in whatever you do, you are representing every one of us here as worthy ambassadors.”
“Graduands your journey through tertiary education has been one of dedication, hard work, and resilience. Today, as we gather here to acknowledge your achievements, let us also reflect on the theme of this occasion which is “Redefining the Boundaries of Tertiary Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” which is of great significance in our rapidly evolving technology-driven world.
The world we live in is changing at an unprecedented pace, largely driven by the transformative power of artificial intelligence. As we embrace this era, we must consider how it affects the very foundation of education. Tertiary education, once perceived as a static path is now evolving to meet the needs of a dynamic, and technology-driven society. Wisconsin International University College, Ghana has always strived for excellence, and in this age of AI, we must continue to do so through our unique practical learning.
We acknowledge our responsibility as guardians of education who must redefine the boundaries of tertiary education to prepare our graduates not just for today but for the challenges of tomorrow. This means embracing AI as a powerful tool to enhance research, teaching, and learning, foster critical thinking as well as cultivate innovative problem-solving skills.
However, we must also remember that the essence of education extends beyond technical knowledge. Our mission is not only to impart information but to cultivate wisdom, empathy, and adaptability. That is why we continue to make relevant investments in the right areas because we understand that knowledge alone is not enough it must be accompanied by practical skills and experience.” Prof. Mireku explained.
“Wisconsin International University College Ghana is not just a university but a beacon of excellence, deeply committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience,” the president of the college alluded.
