A Mercedes Sprinter with registration number GT 5873-09 veered off the road and crashed into a tree, injuring 23 people and leaving two suspected dead on Thursday morning at Gomoa Simbrofo on the Winneba-Apam highway.
According to one of the occupants of the vehicle, they were traveling from Accra to Takoradi when the car burst one of the rear tyres and somersaulted before crashing into the tree.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service from Apam were called at 0711hrs.
The Fire Personnel and the National Ambulance Service rescued the 23 victims.
Six of the victims were sent to the Winneba Trauma Hospital and 17 were sent to St Luke’s Hospital in Apam including the mate of the vehicle.
The suspected bodies believed to be in their middle to late thirties were sent to the St. Luke Hospital.
