Black Stars Captain Thomas Partey has been ruled out of the upcoming match against Sudan due to an injury sustained during a recent Premier League clash with Southampton.

Partey, who plays as a midfielder for Arsenal, is a pivotal figure in the squad of 25 players selected by head coach Otto Addo for the crucial doubleheader against Sudan. His absence is expected to be keenly felt by the team as they prepare for the October international break.

The injury, which occurred over the weekend, has raised concerns among both club and country, as Partey is known for his dynamic presence on the field and leadership qualities. The Black Stars, who have been gearing up for the matches against Sudan, will now have to adjust their strategy and tactics to compensate for the loss of their captain.

This development adds a layer of complexity to the team’s preparations as they aim to secure a strong performance in the upcoming fixtures.

Despite the setback, the Black Stars have commenced their training sessions in Accra, determined to maintain focus and momentum.

The first training session saw the players engaging in rigorous drills, under the watchful eye of Coach Addo, as they fine-tune their skills and strategies for the first encounter with Sudan scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024.

The team is hopeful that their collective effort and resilience will help them overcome the challenges posed by Partey’s absence.

In addition to Partey, three other players—Joseph Paintsil, Ibrahim Osman, and Kingsley Schindler—have been released from the squad for the upcoming two international matches.

With Partey sidelined, the spotlight will be on other key players to step up and lead the charge.
