Cote d’Ivoire last night, put up a spectacular opening ceremony for the official commencement of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON tournament.
The event lived up to the hype, following the display of cultural performances and delivery of musical acts.
Performances from local dance troupes and top music artistes left the stadium in full excitement.
There were also displays of masquerades and elephant mascots and a rich showcase of Ivorian culture through their colours and fireworks.
Renowned artistes including Franco-Ivorian group Magic System, Nigerian sensation Yemi Alade, and Egyptian Ramadan sang the AFCON 2023, ANTHEM Akwaaba, which means welcome, created to celebrate the warm hospitality of the people of Cote d’Ivoire.
The entire Stade Alassane Outarra Ebimpe was a spectacle as fans got value for money.
It was a beautiful display of colours as flags of the 24 participating countries were brought on stage, with electrifying fireworks, which illuminated the sky and set the stage for the much-anticipated match between the host country Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau.
