The founder and independent presidential aspirant of the Movement for Change (M4C), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has declared his intention to abolish the Council of State if he is elected president.

Speaking at the Movement for Change manifesto launch on Monday 24th, June 2024, Mr Alan Kyerematen proposed replacing the Council of State with a new Second Chamber of Parliament in his Great Transformational Plan.

This chamber would include representation from key stakeholder groups such as labor unions, faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, professional bodies, gender-based organizations, the private sector, and people with disabilities.

Mr. Kyerematen emphasized that this approach would create a truly representative and inclusive government.

Mr Alan Kyerematen criticized the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating that they have exhausted their competencies and should not be returned to power.

He argued that both parties, having governed the country for the past 32 years, have failed to present viable future plans.

He urged Ghanaians to support the Movement for Change, with which he intends to contest the 2024 Presidential election as an independent candidate.

The Great Transformational Plan, according to him, is a blueprint for Ghana’s economic transformation. It outlines robust policies and practical steps toward building an enterprise economy, aiming to create a prosperous, united, and peaceful Ghana that offers equal opportunities for all, particularly young people, women, and vulnerable groups.

Alan also criticized the extensive borrowing by the leading parties to finance their manifesto promises, which he believes has led the country into its current financial difficulties.
