Alban Bagbin Elected Speaker of 9th Parliament; Sworn Into Office

Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has been elected as the Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic. The election took place amidst a significant atmosphere in the Chamber, with the presence of the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, who oversaw the swearing-in ceremony.

The Chief Justice administered both the Oath of Allegiance and the Speaker’s Oath to the newly elected Speaker, marking the official commencement of his tenure.

This event signifies a crucial moment in the parliamentary proceedings as the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic gets underway.

He was elected unopposed.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Speaker Bagbin expressed gratitude to the President-Elect, John Dramani Mahama for his endorsement.
