The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has declared that Ghana’s economy has been severely damaged under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC manifesto in Winneba on Saturday, August 24, he stated, “The economy has collapsed over the past seven years.

The government has introduced numerous taxes that are causing immense hardship and exacerbating the suffering of Ghanaians.”

NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia also criticised the NPP, saying they inherited a strong economy from the NDC but destroyed it.

He highlighted the achievements of the previous NDC administration, including two oil fields, a thriving manufacturing sector, and a robust cocoa industry. However, he claimed that the NPP has undermined these accomplishments and is now falsely claiming to have inherited a struggling economy.

“Our policies are guided by respect for the people,” he emphasised.

“We left behind a strong foundation, including a manufacturing sector, two oil fields, and a thriving cocoa industry.

It’s unacceptable for the NPP to claim they inherited a bad economy when they have deliberately destroyed our achievements.”
