Science & Maths Quiz: Asokore College of Education Demonstration C Basic School are winners

The Asokore College of Education Demonstration “C” Basic School has emerged victorious with 43 points in this year’s edition of New Juaben North Municipal Science and Maths Quiz organized by the Municipal Education Directorate in collaboration with a US Based Ghanaian, Solomon Kumah for Junior High Schools at Asokore SDA College of Education, in the New Juaben North Municipality.

Asokore College of Education Demonstration “A” Basic School placed second with 24 points, while Akwadum Methodist Basic School came third with 14 points.

The competition was in five rounds, which involved Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Speed race, problem of the day, true or false, and riddles.

The Competition was organized to assist younger generation by impacting them with relevant skills and knowledge that will prepare them for the future in terms of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM education.

In an interview with GBC News, the main sponsor of the competition, Solomon Kumah noted that his funding support for the programme is a way of giving back to society through education. He added that the competition will help improve the academic performance of the pupils and the schools in the New Juaben North Municipality.

The New Juaben North Municipal Education Director, Beverly Dansoa Bartels urged parents who serve as major stakeholders of education to partner the education directorate in their academic programmes to help improve the academic performance of their wards. Madam Dansoa Bartels mentioned that the competition will be a yearly affair to help motivate the students and teachers to work hard.

The winning school, Asokore College of Education Demonstration “C” Basic School led by Yusha Naila appreciated the efforts of their coaches, teachers, parents, friends and colleagues for helping them to come this far.

The winning school, Asokore College of Education Demo “C” received a cash prize of five thousand cedis for the contestants, one thousand cedis each for the two coaches, a trophy, a plague, certificates and medals.

The First Runner-Up, Asokore College of Education Demo “A” also received three thousand cedis to the contestants, one thousand cedis for each of the two coaches, a plague, certificates and a medal. The Second Runner-Up, Akwadum Methodist Basic School contestants received two thousand cedis.

The Coaches also received One thousand Cedis each, a plague, certificates and medals.
